I was wondering if 3ds max handles this automatically, or if I have to edit some options manually? Sorry, I'm still somewhat of a uninformed participator at this....
Then again, part of me thinks it has to do with format conversion before importing into 3ds max, IE: from .Misfit Model 3D to .ms3d. Does it have to be in a specific format to be imported WITH smoothing groups, like, .ms3d etc.? Basically, I'm asking whether or not imported format, affects exported format smoothing groups... If not, what options should I change to fix this?
I also keep getting an error message with my .ms3d importer script: "unable to convert: undefined to type: integer"

Yes, the mesh format matters. Some formats do not support properly storing smoothing groups or other data. Try using .obj as your exchange format between programs. Download the native editor (like Milkshape or Misfit) if you need to convert from a proprietary format like ms3d.
