Alright, I've come back to playing ZEQ2 again and I've noticed one major problem that annoys me a LOT . The '''new'' beam clashing system is VERY ridiculous. If your enemy is about 1 powerlevel stronger, the beam of the person with 1 powerlevel more instantly wins. There's NO balanced beam clashing like in the older versions of ZEQ2 which dissapoints me to the max. The clashing system we had before was epic. Not only was it balanced and fair, but it was ridiculously epic if you were RPing. Now it's just ''The stronger one wins instantly, yay!'' Is this on purpose, or is it a mistake? If it is, will this EVER be fixed again?

1. It's ZEQ2-lite, not ZEQ2. Different projects.
2. There is no new beam clashing system.
3. You shouldn't be playing anything.
Attack collisions and interactions in the latest revisions are a larger part of unfinished systems. Most of the existing systems were ripped out and intended to be replaced by better designs. It'll be extended and finished only when someone steps up that has interest to do so. You are more than welcome to examine the source code and make changes if you disagree with the current state. I have no problem with stepping you in the correct direction on this.

1. It's obvious I was talking about ZEQ2 Lite. What else would I be talking about?
2. Then why isn't it like before?
3. Yes I should, why can't I play ZEQ2?
Attack collisions and interactions in the latest revisions Ripped out to be replaced? Does that mean the old beam clashing system will return? I really miss it. And yes, I'm talking about the current game, not ZEQ2 normal.

1. If you meant ZEQ2-Lite, you should have said "ZEQ2-Lite". By not taking the extra half second to type out "-Lite" you named a different project. There really is an important distinction between the two.
2. If you actually read Brad's post, then you would have seen that he explained why....
3. No, you shouldn't be playing, because ZEQ2-Lite is not a "game" yet. A "game-development project" maybe, but it lacks the criteria currently to qualify as an actual "game" since many of the features required to qualify it as one are still unfinished or yet to be started. Think of ZEQ2-Lite as more or less a "Shell" or "Template" show casing some rudimentary pre-built gameplay systems from which an actual game could be made if someone so chose to.

It's not obvious. Both exist. Both are active projects.
2. Then why isn't it like before?
Again, it was being revised. Non-stable SVN revisions represent work-in-progress (unfinished) states of being.
3. Yes I should, why can't I play ZEQ2?
As the blog posts explains, ZEQ2-lite is not supposed to be played. It's a developer barebones/aid. You can treat a toaster like a frisbee all you want, but that doesn't make make it a device designed to be thrown.

No old system will resurface. Re-writing was done on a system specifically because the current one needed refinement in some degree. When someone is prepared to undertake what's necessary to finish the existing implementation, a more robust power struggling system will exist.

I was obviously talking about ZEQ2 Lite because this is the site AND forum for Lite. Why else would it say ''ZEQ2 Lite'' at the top left?
2. Then why isn't it like before?
Again, it was being revised. Non-stable SVN revisions represent work-in-progress (unfinished) states of being. The ''revised'' version could have just been un-released so we were still with the older struggling system, but just with the newly added characters. That wouldn't be that hard.

You can treat a toaster like a frisbee all you want, but that doesn't make make it a device designed to be thrown. MANY people play ZEQ2 Lite and make servers to play with others and just privately with friends; what's keeping players to play?

As long as the beam struggle system won't end up being ''I have 1 more powerlevel, I win'' trash.

I do not understand what your bold regions are intended to convey.
Let me summarize them for you for clarity.
1. Both ZEQ2 and ZEQ2-lite exist.
2. ZEQ2-lite is a work in progress.
3. ZEQ2-lite is a development aid.
4. ZEQ2-lite uses forward progression.

I think the power struggle system I coded is still intact, its just the whole power level system had changed at some time, which had an effect on the way the power struggle system calculates power. It only needs some updating on the math parts to get it working again.
Unless the power struggle system I wrote has been scrapped and re-written?

I think at one point a rework was started to change how all attacks handle interactions with other attacks, the player, and the ground in terms of exploding, burning, riding, etc. This was not finished, but your version should exist still in 1536 (stable version) as far as I know, Dave.

MegaGohan, both ZEQ2 and ZEQ2-Lite are contained within the same domain: ZEQ2.com.
Also, you should be playing the stable revision, not the latest one.

Are you sure the stable revision actually has the regular beam clashing system? I mean, a lot of these different packs out there seem to not use stable. That or it's the same as in latest.

Don't use the addon packs. Just play the regular, untouched Revision 1536.
