I didn't have TOO much of a problem with the excessive projection of a lighter toned setup being overbearing, but yes, perhaps they could have separated the distinctions more contrastingly -- such as Adventure Time does.
Again, the concept of a child-themed or "fairy-tale" motif layered on top of more critical themes is the same as with Adventure Time (which definitely needs a thread here) but not as aggressively separated/invisible as it is.
It's funny. I was thinking of Adventure Time when I wrote that last post. I'm just not sure how much is purely creative direction, or if it's a network difference(something that's got me slightly worried about Nickelodeon's new take on the TMNT series coming this fall--but yay for the old theme song!) There should perhaps be an obligatory Tart-Toter quote, as well.

Whaaaaaaat? How did I not know that he was the voice of Tenzin?! Cave Johnson, you sly dog.
Psssh. Everyone knew he was a Jedi Knight though.
I saw his name come up prior to seeing the first episode, and still wasn't sure if he was Tenzin until I saw the credits. And it speaks to his Jedi powers that he was able to mind-trick me into not recognizing him. We're done here!
