If you made that, you should be able to make a cave into one of the mountains or put a lake in there with a water texture.

So what does that proof exactly?
You just know a trick in 3ds max, that's not actual modeling.

Well so you did the map using this trick? I can believe that.
The fact is, it's just not a good way of making it, since you're not capable of editing the terrain once you create it. For example like the lake I asked you to do.

A displacement mapping is good for landscapes, that's true. But what for did you download the height map, dude? Why don't you simple make it with Photoshop? It's just white to black map. What it is for? For Displacer to understand the areas that it needs to be pushed in and off. I highly recommend you to draw it yourself. Just don't tessellate the landscape too much. I think something 300x300 would be nice, then using the optimization modifier in 3dsmax, optimize to much more usable polycount somewhat ~20 000 triangles or so. Goodluck trying.

Yeah I will, I just had a hard time believing him, considering his previous threads.
Also I want to encourage him to learn actual modeling, since there is no instant trick to create good maps.
So 123, try to learn to model to create these houses you wanted yourself.
check out some of these tutorials for learning modeling basics.

I absolutely love this whole thread, it's a classic. Claiming you made this "model" when you really didn't "make" anything, you just some settings on a displacement modifier using a height map you had nicked from someone else.
You throw a fit when confronted about it and even go as far as making a video as "proof" that you did "make" it only to have that video really be "proof" that the actually work wasn't done by you but whoever made the height map.

You need to stop making people feel like trash brother no one likes that attitude even if what you're saying is true it's not needed. Take your "I'm better than everyone else attitude and go someonewhere else"
And don't reply back to this post because I don't give a trash about what you have to say.

I mock where mocking is deserved, good sir. The simple way to avoid my mocking wrath is to stop and actually think before posting. I only ever mock posts which are utterly devoid of intelligent thought.
And speaking of which, you're telling one of the project's coders to bugger off? You get a gold star for that one

If I showed my work to the greatest dev in the world they'd probably say "Interesting stuff but you've got a way to go." I'm still far from an expert which is why I pay attention to those with more experience than myself.
But, hey, there's a humerous sense of irony about a dude, who's been vociferously defensive about being asked whether he actually made something, telling the guy laughing at the whole affair to lighten up.
Here's the thing, you didn't actually make anything. You clicked a few buttons to load a displacement map. The actual level is the displacement map, that's what gives it it's layout and identity, you just converted it from a 2D texture to a 3D surface.
Sure people put such things up on the net to be used but as part of something, not for some kid to render up and argue profusely for two pages that he made it.
Making levels, models, any creative process requires effort and not being bothered to make 99% percent of something you call your work, instead just use someone else's to take less time, isn't going to get you very far and will just cause you to get in arguements with "jerks" like TRL and myself.
Try thinking about it a little before making an over reactive response.
