Yep, some rich Australian dude is a billionaire and he wants to remake the titanic, the exact same way just with better safety and technology, BBC said it will take him around 4 years to make it, the guy even wants the same food as the first Titanic, I saw this on the news earlier today. So what do you guys think?

It's a bit disrespectful to the people who died in that disaster, but after 100 years.. Sure why not!

At first I thought this was going to be about a titanic movie sequel. Razz

Don't do it. It's a 3 hours long cheesy and boring film.

The only good part of that movie was that it ended...

The acting was terrible, and the so called "romantic dreamboat" known as "Jack" is really little more than a perverted con-man who only does life drawing because he gets to see naked women...

On the topic of the title: I too had a dreadful worry when I saw the topic title that this was going to be about a Titanic movie sequel...

On topic with the thread: the Titanic, for all its splendor and before-its-time safety features, was a flawed design from some of the documentaries I've seen. Building another one is just a bad idea. It is both insulting to the people who died that day, and it will carry its cursed legacy with it should it ever have the misfortune to venture out on a maiden voyage. Now, I'm not usually superstitious, but a tragedy of this kind warrants a certain degree of caution as one stampedes carelessly over its memory... And while I may not be overly superstitious, I know that many sailors for centuries now usually are, and with good reason. I personally think it's better to not tempt fate...

shenku we can't rule it unsafe based on a few documentaries , if they are making it they know what they are doing , it's not an insult , they got hit and that's the only reason it sunk

Mima no editing you scoundrel!

I actually enjoyed the titanic movie when I was a kid, I saw it when it came out. And the sinking of the ship was actually pretty suspenseful to me along with all of the little dramas that went on.

I didn't say it was unsafe, I said it was a flawed design. The two are different statements entirely.

And they weren't "hit" by an Iceberg, they rammed right into the darned thing...

Side note: I was going to elaborate on exactly what I mean by "flawed design", but I quickly realized that I was typing way too much information, and likely none of you would read it any way since I doubt that you guys are as big of history buffs as I am... Suffice to say though, it wasn't just the ship's design that was at fault, there were many different factors at play that caused the disaster. Regardless, many people lost their lives in this tragedy, and they should be remembered, not forgotten.

I think there should never be a "Titanic 2" because the name carries with it a gruesome legacy that will always linger in the back of peoples mind's. Believe it or not, negative thoughts can sometimes find ways to manifest in physical form, either through fear or human error, we sometimes cause bad things to happen simply by thinking negatively.

And just because they're "making it" doesn't mean they know what they're doing... I could make a gasoline powered jet pack to fly around like The Rocketeer if I had tons of money and some schematics to follow, but that doesn't mean I'd know what I'm doing...

Shame on you! Shenku and Zeth's walls of text are a good source of information and they can help improve your vocabulary! Not to mention Shenku is right in this case.

It wouldn't hurt to have it as a museum dedicated to all those that died back then, but to have it as a passenger ship is something totally different.

Now if they make just a big ship with the same name it's not as bad, since the advancements on ship building could probably allow that, but to copy the original is just absurd and asking for trouble.

Would you believe that my original post was nearly five or six times the length of the one I submitted here? I deleted it all because, as I said, no one was going to read it...

Sad
