Why are you comparing?
Some numbers are wrong because ZEQ2-lite is in indie section while Earth Special Forces is in MOD section...

The rank on Moddb is a bit skewed since it's a daily measurement of activity. On some days it outranks Minecraft at rank #5 and while I'm not a fan of Notch's sandbox in any way, that's just plain wrong considering ZEQ2-lite has long since had any programmatic effort applied.
I did find it amusing that there are some ZEQ2 addons that hold ranking in the top 100 of mods also though.

Well you can't really compare ZEQ2-lite and Earth Special Forces
I'm not sure but Earth Special Forces has been longer in development and for the last years they have been working on the final version, many people lost interest because they didn't release anything, as where ZEQ2-lite released stuff regularily and there is a big addon community for it and it's newer, once Earth Special Forces is out the interest in it will rise again.
