Here is a good tutorial for you guys to practice with. You just need to know how to work with the 3ds max interface (and a little experience perhaps). http://www.3dtotal.com/ffa/tutorials/max/joanofarc/head1.php
I practiced this one today and completed it in 4 hours. I learned a lot from this regarding topology and detailing. I've uploaded a few pictures of my work as well.
This tutorial was given by Damaera and I sincerely thank him for providing me with such a great stuff
Incase someone finds a good tutorial worth practicing please post here. Additionally you can post your OWN work too.

Ah, Joan Of Arc, THE tutorial every beginner modeller should read and use. It was recommended reading even back when I was learning the ropes.
The tutorial index is here http://www.3dtotal.com/ffa/tutorials/max/joanofarc/joanmenu.php incase anyone is wondering, which goes into the whole character modelling process, from modelling to UV mapping to texturing to rigging. It covers basically everything you need to know to make a character model.
