Charizard is just a generic stylized dragon.
Its design was based on existing ones -- not the other way around.

Actually Sugimori's art style draws heavy inspiration from Toriyama's. You can notice it on the triangle shaped eyes seen with many of his pokemon and characters. Charizard's thick tail and belly is almost exactly how Toriyama's draws most of the dragons seen in Dragon Quest.
This particular dragon I've never seen before and is probably drawn by some obscure gooey insides artist.

I found the dragon in Dragon Ball episode 152 Mystery of the Dark World.
But it does look like Charizard.

Yes, I'd came to the same conclusions (about Dragon Warrior), but couldn't find a solid dragon sprite to represent it.

But it does look like Charizard.
No, Charizard looks like IT. Pokemon came later. You have it backwards.
