Happens on my linux server as well , it happens due to built in stack protection in my case . It is a security feature that prevents buffer overflows from being exploited but in this case , it crashes the game with the error you are showing .

is there any way to stop this?

Also, how does [Q] Vanilla stay up 24/7 ? And how does it stay up even when ioquake3.org is down ? It shows on both master.quake3arena.com & ioquake3.org

cause its probably running off of linux like mine, they can put a crash detection on it where if it crashes it comes back up emeditly

yes, linux can do a lot more then people know, its opensource so people can do pretty much anything they wish they just have to know how
