A lot of forums limit you to 25x25, 50x50, or (if lucky) 100x100. Some force particular aspect ratios or a certain power of x squared. Do you feel the current limitation of a width of 130 or height of 400 is limiting in some way or are you simply asking why those values? If the latter, it's primarily so the forum system & layout (which is currently 10 years old) doesn't break.
