Pretty solid casting/portrayal of 17/18. I was leery on Gohan at first, but despite some cosmetic differences, he really nailed the personality (and English voice tonality). Trunks though? Yikes. The actor playing him doesn't seem experienced -- at all. Although, sure, it looked like they fixed up the hair in the "next time" preview, it hardly changes the fact that the role seemed arbitrarily based on the actor's presumed relationship (rather than acting skillset).

The locales were fair; however, the brief Japanese architecture/medicine scene and beach training martial arts sequence felt completely out of place compared to Dragon Ball Z's counterparts -- which emphasized technology for healing and expediency/impact for training sequences.

A particularly odd note was how actual Dragon Ball Z sound effects were used majority of the time, yet when it came time for CG, things pendulum back to traditional, run-of-the-mill after-effects.

Incidentally, the most jarring distinction was the cinematography. Without Dragon Ball Z's signature camera angles to play out key dialog/combat exchanges, it basically just receded to become an action movie with heavy Dragon Ball Z flavoring/lore.

All that said, it's still probably one of the better attempts made on capturing Dragon Ball Z in live-action.
