Okay, so I found this PlayStation 3 version of Just Cause 2... But! I found a LIMITED EDITION version of the game that comes with all DLC for 40 dollars for PlayStation 3 & 360 & 25 dollars for PC. But its coming from the UK. Do you think it will be Region free for my PlayStation 3? I need help. I only have 17 more days before I can get this bad boy.

Side note: I live in the US.

PlayStation 3 games are usually region free.
Don't know about the DLC codes though, may need to get an european account for that.

PlayStation 3 games that aren't region free are very rare.
Send an e-mail to the developers and ask if you can't find out on google.

Indeed, whether a game is region free or not these days is usually up to the publisher and developer involved. Depending on what region it is, a game may be region free in one and not another in order to make generate the most profit.

for example. A Japanese version may be region free as it's tailored solely to the Japanese market without English lagnuage while the American version may be as that would stop people in Europe importing them at a fraction of a price of the PAL versions.

Further more the platform the game's for also affects the dicision about region encoding. If a multiplatform game is percieved to have a far higher chance of selling on one platform than another, publishers may region lock the SKU for the more popular one in the major regions while leaving the others region-free. Again, this is to maximize profits on the precieved most "important" platform, so to speak.

At the end of the day whether a specific SKU of a game is region free or not is purely down to internal politics and profitibility. As Azurite suggested, you're best off checking with publishers or import shops to check whether a game is region-locked or not before buying it, even if the platform is generally region free. Otherwise sod's law says it'll be the one game in a hundred which is region-locked Wink
