Yes.
They are kept in ZEQ2 Lite\ZEQ2Contents\players
Every Character has its own Folder
Every Folder contains Transformation Folders named Tier
Every Tier Folder contains 3 3D Meshes
Head.md3
Upper.md3
Lower.md3
To Create / Edit Models the best to use would be Milkshape 3D AND Autodesk 3D Studio Max 8!

you won't be able to do all the work in zbrush since you can't animate it or export md3s..I'm not sure if you can make proper uv maps either...
but you could do your modeling/textures in zbrush then bring it into another program for the rest.

You can create models with ZBrush, no doubt about that, but you will have to use any other 3D editor in order to uv map and rig the character.
