I really enjoy playing this game for what it has so far, I look forward to it's improvement in the future, it has a whole lot of potential. Any future plans to upgrade to a better engine, maybe Unreal or Havok?

I'm afraid you are several years too late in your suggestion. ZEQ2 moved to a custom engine in 2007. ZEQ2-Lite will, however, remain with Quake 3.
