I first went to the forum page and I found a guest message which told me you need a steam account to join which really tinkled me off
than I saw how strict the rules were and how professional the forums were
it was like a jail with cctv cams in you're buttocks
and due to constant feeling of being watched on in the forums I abandoned the idea
ZEQ2 FORUMS ARE MUCH BETTER at least THERE IS NO PRESSURE HERE
Well if you bothered to read the message you'd find out it's not required to join the forums. Your validated status only comes in to play when you are asking for support.
najeeb wrote : I agree that the steam thing is just loving stuff , but I also have to say that the strict rules there prevent people like a really cool guy to do stuff ,against which this forum is pretty much help less , but I have to say , Earth Special Forces lost much support because of too harsh decigions
I disagree with you there. Earth Special Forces is an old mod and that was the cause of the loss of its members. During the days of Earth Special Forces beta 1.1 there were aproximately 20k registered members with over 400 people on line each day. Though the moving of the forum from the previous host to the new one the stats got mostly reset. That time was when you would get released for as much as a spam post, with 3 warnings resulting in a temporary high five.
The decline of the forum population happened later. The rules were softened up quite a bit after the release of 1.2, and a a few months after 1.2.3 was released people slowly started disappearing. Earth Special Forces always was a hard to master game and that left its player group as a select society who didn't quit till they were good. With newer people being turned off by the fact that they would get killed really easily and the older group getting well old. It lead to a decrease in community activity. Newer people didn't want to really join cause they mostly thought that picking Goku would allow them to own the server, yet were possessed badly themselves. The older players were complaining abbout how slow 1.2 is compared to 1.1 and started leaving. Others started leaving simply because they outgrew dragonball.
The forum rules don't have anything to do with it. Yes there are some rules, but they are more guidelines than actual rules and mod intervention doesn't happen unless things really get out of hand.
If you think this is bad though, you should have seen the place in 2003 or 2004. There were at least 2 to 3 warnings per day ^^
EDIT: And what is it with that filter O.O
high five = b a n
released = b a n n e d
I have read that before , and I do agree on that , but the fact is , the staeam thing also made you're population go down , when I was about to post there it asked me about the staem thing , and from that day till today I never saw the forums again , there are many more people who would have done it , even a forum section was locked for steam users only , I mean that's forcing it upon us

But nothing is locked. You probably joined during the time sky was still debugging the system. No forum is locked for anyone aside from staff forums and force pit ^^
But those are special cases since the beginning of Earth Special Forces.
You can post in the help section, but if you are not validated, then you'll simply be redirected to the validation by a member of the mod staff and the thread will be closed.
The thing with the registration is just information. Though yes it did take about 2 weeks to get the thing working properly in which time it reset the database about 3 times ^^;
But if its distrust towards the system, then garrys mod would have no players at all. They use the same exact thing for their downloads section *intense laughter*
