Real guitar is cool, but unnecessary unless you rich or have rock band.. it's not a cheap thing there.

There are cheap guitars and there are expensive ones.
If you want to brag, buy the expensive one. If you want to play, then you can do greatly with a cheaper one.
I got my acoustic for 80€ and it sounds great. Same goes for electric. You can get a decent electric guitar for just over 100$. Its enough for just playing it for the sake of having fun with music. Sure its no Gibson but that's where most people start.
As for unnecessary. You can't make music in rock band, guitar hero or anything similar. All you can do is pretend. Just like you can pretend you are driving a car in Grand Theft Auto. Its totally different from the real thing with lots more of a kick once you learn how to play the real instrument.
Needles to say it can be a real kick at a party if you can get everyone to sing something while you play it *intense laughter*
