I don't know too. I think Nemix knows.
Ask him or just google around.

Just Export the Model as a Wavefont.OBj(or what ever it was),
3ds max supports those kind of files and open it with 3ds max.
Simple as that...
you can apply the texture in 3ds max and render it to get the real image how it will look in game, cause not rendered will show up blurry and stuff

The teacher in the formation already told me that .obj is the major format that all games and programs use but now I still have to learn more

You can Do Maps, but I wouldn't recommend it, because it might come out small and mixed up, Cause 3D max is mostly for models, you need to be like the creator of it to know how to make maps perfectly.
There are a few Other Programs that are made only for Maps in any format, there was a Threat asking about that kind of things and there was a solid answer you should look it up.

I think the answer is in one of 'em, if not google for Quake 3 Mapping/Map Creating Tutorials or Software, I'm 100% sure I saw a solid answer on a threat about mapping here on ZEQ

Actually most of our maps were done in a modeling program (like 3dsmax) and then exported to Radiant for final BSP compilation.
There's really no difference in meshes designed from a 3D modeling program and those done in a map editor. Usually the map editor simple adds other layers like visibility/occlusion data, collision data, lighting data, etc.
