Actually, he was using Piccolo (who is stronger than Cell, in my opinion) and his powerlevel was 2x bigger than mine's. But even if I had advantage, he's was more skilled than me.

Don't mislead the folks. It was rpg mode, which means, we start off with the same powerlevel, but if you get killed you lose powerlevel and vice versa;)

You obviously were not round when LBZ first came out.
it's been so long that I can even find screenshots of those old versions.
In any case there were 2 lemmings, dressed in blue and red representing Goku and Vegeta. Everything was done in 2D sprites. Later came the 3D models.
It was much simpler back then, and both characters had the same attacks, but was still fun. More fun than the current versions in my opinion.
