of course Vegeta, he have a great style, he have brain, and stuff like that... oh and is the prince of all the saiyans... and Goku is just the most strong because he is the main character/hero of Dragon Ball Z... for that reason when them make the portata fusion, Vegetto was more like Vegeta, even the name (vege = Vegeta, tto = kakarotto)...

But it's most likely true. Once Gohan had his powers "awakened"(again...) he could easily have been stronger than Goku towards the end of Dragonball Z.

More to the actual topic at hand... True, giving in to Babidi's magic(since Vegeta stated that he allowed Babidi to make him stronger after seeing what it had done for normal humans during the tournament) did make Vegeta stronger, but he was nowhere near as strong as Goku during that fight, ever. He wasn't even close, since Goku was holding back the entire time, which was proven when he finally transformed to Super Saiyan 3 against Buu. The only reason Vegeta won the fight, was because he tricked Goku into thinking they would settle the score after dealing with Babidi and Buu first, only to knock him out from behind while Goku was digging for a sensu bean.

The only time that can be confirmed in the series where Vegeta was stronger than Goku, was during the Saiyan Saga, and that only because Vegeta transformed into his ape form. You might technically consider him to have ascended past Goku during the Cell Saga, when he came out of the time chamber prior to Goku entering, but only technically since it didn't last for longer than a day when Goku and Gohan apparently left the time chamber earlier than expected for their full year/day.

This topic doesn't seem to be about who was stronger though, as the answer to that is obvious to anyone who actually watched the series. Personally, I always thought Vegeta was pretty badass at times, but he also seemed spoiled and immature on the whole(and bordered on emo at times), as is typical of royalty who's always had everything they wanted handed to them. I think Goku's pure-hearted nature and ability for forgiveness always appealed to me more, so strength aside I'd say Goku is still the better of the two as a person.

Technically he is.

Since only Goku and Vegeta are full blood Saiyans, that leaves Vegeta as the weakest.

And while I agree that Mystic Gohan was probably stronger than Goku, Gohan had nowhere near the experience and combat awareness of Goku. So in a 1 on 1 I think he would still loose to Goku even though he was physically stronger.

As for the whos the better Saiyan question.

Vegeta hands down. Goku may have Saiyan genes, but he's more human in nature than Saiyan. He lacks the Saiyan pride, though he does have the warriors pride. But he's still closer to a human than a Saiyan.

I agree that Goku would most likely win in a 1 on 1 fight. But Gohan was stronger anyway you look at it. Even after Goku eating a senzu bean.
If we were to measure powers, Gohan would be much stronger than Goku. But, if we were to watch a brawl between them, an all-out fight, Goku would probably (note- probably, not certainly) win.

Vegeta was "more" Saiyan, by a long shot. Even though Goku's and Vegeta's blood had the same purity, Vegeta "was" a Saiyan his whole life. Goku on the other hand wasn't. He was brought up as a Earthling.

There was one other instance as well. When he turned Super Saiyan against Android 19. Even Piccolo thought that (That's not the indisputable evidence, but we can see it from his fight).

I don't recall them showing him eating any beans after waking up, and in his first fight following that, he had already named his new transformation(when he was "educating" Buu on Super Saiyans), hinting he had achieved it while training in the afterlife prior to the World Tournament, and already knew he could reach that state.

And note that I did in fact say Gohan was likely stronger, but I did not however say that he would win in a straight up fight against Goku. Strength isn't everything, after all, as we have seen several times in the series.

When Goku was showing Buu the forms King Kai said "Not to use that form" meaning he saw it before when Goku first achieved it. When Goku and Vegeta were talking during the Buu fight Vegeta made Goku apologize for holding back the transformation, but Goku answered that the form takes a lot of energy so he doesn't want to use it unless its really necessary. Meaning he was quite familiar with it.

Well my opinion is that Vegeta is not a better Saiyan because the arrogance runs throw Vegeta's family venes though gokus family is less arrogant but when I saw Goku turn into Super Saiyan or past it he's arrogance was much bigger I would say as much as Vegeta's. I think that Goku has the same "Goodness" of Saiyans then Vegeta.
