Hi guys sorry if I created this thread on the wrong place, but anyway can you give me a good version of 3Ds max I wanna try to model maybe create some new maps or charaters so if you know a good version of 3Ds max please post the download link here thanks

You need to have a student email address to use the student version beyond the 30 day trial, but it is free and legitimate(so no risk of legal action...).
Or if you don't have a student email address, you could always grab Blender instead. The tools are different, but the skills needed are pretty much the same.

It's getting there, but try to make the head less oval shaped. Generally with faces, the best method is to make it all from scratch, rather than an existing primitive(such as a sphere or cube) since most primitives don't have the necessary shape needed to recreate the human head. Also, while this may be a tutorial for 3DS Max, the skills it teaches on making character models should still apply with blender, as far as shaping the model out, and the pictures are very good reference for step by step modeling procedures:

Just remember to keep at it, and you'll eventually get there, no one learns everything in a day, after all.
