This is just conspiracy theories not immutable belief, but the origin of both is similar.

People have this urge to find causation in everything that happens. It used to be that thunder was Lloyds being angry and now it's that huge calamities are created by secret societies to control the world. There always needs to be a scapegoat for anything bad that happens.

This is a severe limit to the human mind. In the vast universe stuff just randomly happens some times, earth is no exception. Our brains are just not designed to understand randomness. We're designed to always be wary of danger everywhere we go. This is why we see scary monsters in the trees at night and are afraid of monsters under our beds as kids.

Yes. Anyone can make up facts or interpret existing ones in such a way so to see connections that aren't really there.
