Since I never show my work, I figured I'd actually show something for once.
I started to learn how to make maps... so I'm currently trying to remake one of DJ-Ready's old Earth Special Forces maps he made back when he created fan content.
Edit: Yeah, I know the flow is horrible, currently only worried about the shape at the moment. Will edit the flow during the later stages

That small rock goes a bit too straight up, it should have a steady inclination from the ground like the bigger one.
Great work though. I remember the map from back in the days. It was the one that had a night and day version and one of the first to have those new trees.

Updates!
Did the second cliff, and made the render easier to see. Also, I'll start leveling the terrain once everything else (trees, cell arena, cliffs) is completed.
Edit: Thanks. I'm going to re-do that small cliff area anyways.

The second cliff has a bit of the same problem. It's just not as smooth as the first one.
by the way this is going to end up for Earth Special Forces right, judging from the texture style?

Don't worry, I'll be going back to do some fixes and changes.
And this might be for Earth Special Forces:Final once it comes out. For now, it's just a practice map. Unless someone wants to guide me through on how to import a 3dsmax map into VHE.

That isn't nice. Sure, it wasn't constructive criticism but that's cold.
Maps look good so far. Not enough done to actually point out what could be better. Just a thumbs up for now!

The edges of the island all go straight down. You should have beach like edges too instead of only cliffs. Or at least add some variation in inclanation.

mondai nai.
On the latest image the map has an unnatural flow. The wireframe actually exaggerates that. You could tone it down a bit and make the 'waves' more but smaller. Of course a landscape has a general flow but it's a lot more subtle.
Just my thoughts.

man.. it cool but seems working on these maps in 3dmax is so tiredfull.. it gives more details and textures. why don't you try net-radiant Dem.?

Just my thoughts. The latest picture is an old one, just something that Layne and I worked on before I started on the larger island..
@Ameon: what's net-radiant Dem?

Well I've been a bad person working on something else other than City (sorry T_____T), but if possible I'd like to apply a terrain to the outskirts of the City and Budokai arena ^_^
Here's what I worked on two days ago, pretty much worked all day on it, Adam (Layne/Nataku) has been a big help, he's been teaching me how to model and UV maps. I'm aware that I can pretty much get the same results by reducing the count by like.. half... but I'm just trying to get the shape down:
Also I'd just like to mention that I won't be continuing this.

Now for my next mini project... going to work on this while working on the Budokai City at the same time ^_^
I decided to work on a map for Naruto: Naiteki Kensei just for kicks & to improve my skills in mapping. The map is Tenchi Bridge (the place where Naruto & co. confronted Orochimaru in Shippuuden). (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xC9jBucf8GQ/Sm5r_uPd7mI/AAAAAAAAEYg/7BHDH3Y7Q6c/s200/grass-bridge2.jpg)
Here's what I have so far:
Still need to do a few things to the cliff and UV it. Also ignore the second cliff 'cause I haven't even touched it yet.
