No, ANYONE can get their server on gametiger. That site is NOTHING to do with THIS project but a GENERIC server listing service.
If your server is not showing up then you have done something wrong. That is all there is to it. If everything was set up perfectly as you so claim then, obviously, it would be working right now. Any so called "official" servers are EXACTLY the same as the so called "unofficial" servers. They use EXACTLY the same game with exactly the same settings with exactly the same method of connection.
Try calming down and actually listening to what you have been told before throwing a tantrum at some one else because YOU can not get it working.
Right, but don't forget to mention that some people may still have difficulties to set a server up even when they did everything right. Just because there are some firewall or port issues they don't know about. I just had the luck that everything went fine first time. I tried it at some friends place and It didn't work out either. I guess there were port or firewall issues but I wasn't capable to find the right solution. So a guide would be helpful.
But then again you can't possible make a guide for that since it would be different for every pc.

I'm going to feel so smart after this :p
The tequila server is a teambuild server hosted on linux. that guy is hosting it especially for JadenKorn so he can test out some things for ZEQ2 on linux. Since it's improbable to host a Public Beta 1 server on Linux ( not supported yet ). and since that tequila guy does not have another OS,he can't host a 24/24 Public Beta 1 server.

Only the second time you ask, when someone has already answered.
Really you should go see a doctor.

Not to be on anyone's side but yes it is a game..it is also a project, it can't not be a game if you play the thing, that's like taking the game boy and calling it the "project boy". The game isn't complete so deal with it, although it would be nice to see some updates seeing that one character for the fans takes like what..1 month max if they aren't working on it much and put it off every few days...I understand how there aren't many updates but it doesn't take 6 months to make one single character as an update, if that's the case it better be one BIG file complete with the ability to do ANYTHING in the show including eating and sleeping. I mean lots of people make like twice as much as ZEQ2 lite has completed in about 6 months alone.
Not to mention it wouldn't be too bad to add some characters that are indeed fan made to the download if they are good enough...and not wait for so long to add about 5 characters, not to mention it isn't exactly comforting to see others just like you having the thing you want and seeing all these pictures of characters and maps and not get jealous...

Do you guys realize how off topic you guys are? Almost 2 pages are of your arguing, if you're going to talk about something else then do it in PM's or on the IRC, otherwise if you want to post in this thread get back on topic.
There's a difference between mentioning something or helping someone and totally derailing a thread.
That is all.

I feel as though you did NOT read my posts in entirety as I have previously covered very contrasting FACTS explaining (in very precise detail) why several of your points hold little application.

"We" are not maintaining that server, actually. Tequila is a well-known Quake 3 mod developer that is currently hosting a dedicated inteam server for the sole purpose of build debugging. We have no control over his/her actions.
Yes, Alex is 100% correct. Anyone can host a server and have it show up on gametiger (provided you have the proper ports open and no other firewall restrictions that prevent your game from registering with the master server properly). Peer guardian is one example of a program that could cause you trouble.

Yes Zeth I have...smart to say oh I oppose one of your many opinions in this post but not give a single hint of which in particular...
Principles of debate strictly state that the fundamental concept of an opinion has no place where methodological breakdowns and general facts reside.
Non-bias perceptual awareness is a cornerstone of the text-book definition of the very concept of debate. Introducing personal beliefs/thoughts based on non-empirical statements wholly lacking detailed analysis does not scientifically classify as acceptable material in an opposition discussion.
If you intend to participate in this discussion in an acceptable caliber, then you MUST adhere to the scientific foundation of a standard debate structure.
As far as your query goes, I would be more than happy to provide you direct references had I just not immediately spoken them prior to writing my last post. I know you are more than capable of locating the presented counter-points concerning the following topics :
- The classification of ZEQ2-lite as a game.
- The intention and accountability concerning any updates (and how this directly and indirectly applies to general project progress).
- Particular mis-comparison of other projects of unrelated types.

A lot of you seem to be under the complete miconception that the update is just about a few new characters and maps and that's all that's taking time, but that couldn't be further from the truth.
Characters and maps are just content and only a fraction of the over all work involved. It's taking time because it is a MAJOR update. The folder structure's been optimized; the "engine" and "game" source branches are being merged into a single code base; the new zMesh file format & animations system; visual tools for setting up models in the new model format are being made; hardware shader support and a much more 'modern' renderer; method of storing & accessing skill/attack data from the playerstate has completely changed; Linux support has been added; The ingame server browser is apparently now working. Those are just a selection of the purely technical changes. As far as the gameplay goes, tons of bugs are fixed, limits on the amounts of skills/attacks per character have been drastically raised, mêlée has been enhanced and new additions to the attack scripting are being done, among countless other changes made over the last 6 months.
Everything I mentioned above has been mentioned a number of times on the forums and IRC and aren't exactly "news" to anyone. Most of what I mentioned are also a huge amount of work individually and some are still under heavy development.
These changes affect the project on a far greater scale than just additional characters or maps and are a tremendous amount of additions for just 6 months of work between a handful of guys doing it in their spare time. This is what I meant by people not appreciating the sheer amount of work that's being put in to the project by the few who actually contribute.
Another misconception seems to be that, for someone to contribute, they would have to either make complete characters, make maps or code. That's not all there is to it. What about attack scripting? Tier scripting? Shader scripting? Textures? Sounds? Sprites? There's tons of things which can be done if people actually want to help.
A further misconception is that if an addon's released it can't be contributed and if something's contributed it can't be released as an addon. That is far from the truth again. If people want to contribute something they don't have to "keep it" for the next release unless they specifically want to, it's up to the contributor whether they release it publicly before hand or not.
Similarly, if people actually want to help out polishing off characters which are ingame but incomplete then I can't see Brad or anyone complaining about them being pushed onto the public SVN as they get finished, same with the ton of old character models in the archives, same with the maps. Things aren't being kept "private" to keep them away from the fans, but because they're not release ready. Coding is taking priority because that work is far more important to get done. As we keep on saying, if more people helped out then those so sought after characters would probably be ready for release by now. It's not like no one in the community can tweak models, textures and attacks, is it?
With the amount of potential talent around here, a lot could be achieved if as much effort went into helping as goes into complaining about not having a new character to play with after only 6 months. The whole concept of being open to contributions from the community is NOT about being lazy and getting other people do the work, the very suggestion of such reasoning is a complete insult at best. Contributions have always been suggested along the notion of: "If you want quicker releases then help us out and contribute, there is only so much we can do in our spare time."
Though, I guess no matter how fast we work or how many hours we put in to it, people with such an attitude to it will always be complaining about things taking too long. People were complaining within a fortnight of the Public Beta 1 being released that Public Beta 2 was taking way too long. Patience seems to be a virtue lacked by most, especially the young, in this day and age of instant gratification.
