Fake shadows again
Those shadows aren't "fake" -- nor are they shadows.
Whenever you force details to exist like this in a static/non-conventional way, it's called "baking". Also Shadows are cast from one object to another. Shading on the other hand is how much of an object is affected by a light source.
Basically, you have baked shading (not fake shadows).
Guys, if you see things bigger and try to really a get a great map going I might be enticed to help you at with some textures. Teach you some more about texturing Nello. This could turn into a great community project!
I agree. There are several maps and map assets on the SVN that only need proper texturing to be masterpieces. This is another.

okay I can say one thing qwerty?
can you increase the scale of this map?..
I mean the ring is far from the stands.. not near as the one we have..
and looking at more refs we can notice easily another thing about the roof..
we can model these things or just make a plane and will use TGA textures..

here qwerty you can improve still the map with this raw style..
you can separate still some groups to make more shadows(raw) with the utilize of new texture a bit dark to make the relief..
look as I did the example..
another thing the brown roof was better before.. anyway I did lines up and down if you need
