Is the screen door a texture with transparency? Because if so would that technique work on characters?
For example to get rid of the hanging belts from Goku you would just fill the texture with the transparency color and it would make that part of the model invisible. Would that work?

If using Alpha maps is possible on characters then I do not see why they aren't being used to get rid of troubling geometry.

The water texture looks great from that angle. Hopefully it tiles well from other angles too.
Oh and I'm not too sure about the transparency on the water. I think it would be a cool way to hide by going under the water like Goku did against Freeza. But for that too work it would need to be opaque like in the series.
Also is there a way to animate the water at all? Or at least the textures? Or at the bare minimum animate the water along the beach area by having it flow in and out slightly.
Great work I'm looking forward to this very much.
