That's an ill-advised question that doesn't deserve an answer...

Dragonball was the definition of the Shounen genre. Its created Shounen type as we know today.
it's not the first ever made. Its what created the Shounen genre.
And Bleach = shonen

What's the difference between "shounen" and another type of anime? And I suppose Bleach beat Dragonball at it's own style if what you're saying is true. I've never heard of Dragonball starting it's own genre though.

The Shounen genre wasn't very popular before Dragon Ball Z. All animes after that decided to use a bit of stuff from them. (Naruto, Bleach , One Piece) If you watch Bleach closely there are a lot of things that point to Dragon Ball Z.

I'm not saying that Bleach doesn't resemble Dragon Ball Z but to say that one wouldn't exist with out the other is false. Besides that Bleach is much more entertaining than Dragon Ball Z and has a way better story. Not to mention it's on going so who knows where it could go from here. Dragon Ball Z has already ended and all they really have now is games and lacking things like Dragon Ball Kai.
Dragon Ball Kai is the biggest waste of time since Dragon Ball: Evolution. enough said.

Dragonball Kai is what Dragonball should have been originally as an anime series. Despite the fact that The first plan for Dragonball was to end with the death of Frieza.
After Dragonball every single Shounen anime has had a transformation of sorts with the story line progressing as follows. Introduction -> fight -> training -> new enemy -> fight -> training and so on.
Something you should see quite clearly in Bleach even more than in Naruto. Another thing is the battles with the main enemies. They follow the exact same formula.
Fight -> hero arives late -> hero is winning -> vilan gets the upper hand and nearly beats hero -> hero does something like a new move or a transformation to totally dominate the bad guy.
There are a few exception, like fights with minor characters that own everyone with ease and are only there to show the heros progress.
But yeah the fact that Bleach uses over 90% of the standards that dragonball defined for the Shounen genre is a clear fact that it wouldn't exist without dragonball, at least not the way we know it to be. Same as One Piece, Naruto, KHR and nearly all other shounens.

Sorry but when threads go off topic it usually means the original content was uninteresting and boring. See how no one is talking about which Vegeta they liked more?
