That's not a bug, that's a feature!(or should be!) 
But if the moon goes out the map should go pitch black....
You'd be surprised how much light stars can give off in a remote enough area, such as an arctic region like this. And if that doesn't seem a suitable solution, maybe add some kind of aurora borealis (northern lights), to give it a more arctic feel? easy I only need a aurora texture but I'm not an artist I can't create textures^^
Fortunately, I am an artist. If you want, I can crank out a quick texture for you tonight when I get home from work.

Well, it's a quicky, and looks terrible, but you can use it as a place holder until I make a better one, or you find something better...(You could probably just do a google image search, and cut one out of a random photo, and blend it with your current sky color, or something...)

I considered that when I made it... Then I considered how many hours it would take to make, and decided against the headaches...

yes that would be a lot of work , plus there is no fact that it will work ingame so easil so a still image will do just fine

my answer: every time I get better remember my first Namek map? in ZEQ2 reloaded months ago it was trash
but now its looking better and better
to be honest if I finished my cellgames map you eyes will all fallout and explode to pieces the cellgames map will be a symbol of my experience about myself and its a symbol of how great I become
I'll make my maps someday much better!!

Size doesn't mean quality, actually, Baldwin 's big map is the worst map I've ever seen (WITH offense to Baldwin !!1!!) , look closely , how I'm supposed to see my opponents ? how do I know I'm moving ? Seriously, most of the mappers need to make smaller maps, so they can fill it with objects (trees, rocks , cliffs,dirt, buildings and even cars)
Lets say the truth : 80% of the fan-made maps (especially Dagger's) are flat and almost empty with weirdly placed objects like flat cliffs with repetitive textures, at the end you get a huge map with only two or three cliffs with four trees ...
Another thingie : Your maps are limited , if I go to the borders, I can see it end, in the cellgames map for example or the frostenwasteland, the ground/water is connected to the skybox, its like if I was in a big room, with skybox as a wall -_-
The solution(s) :
- Make your maps smaller then if you can follow the next step you may make bigger maps.
- Try to generate more objects, more trees and cliffs, be creative , put them randomly like if they are naturally set , fill your map !
- Change the structure of the ground , I can easily see that you made a plan in 3DSMAX (flat that is unnatural) and textured it to make it, take example of the landing map, its well-sized , not flat, with many objects and original ideas (like the crater, pine trees, the house...)
You can edit the mesh for that, raise some hills and meadows, add dirt (with splines and planes its an easy matter)
-As for the shaders, lightmap, shadows and others, you can ask some other mappers (Baldwin, Mjuksel, Darkstar, Toebi ...) or even take example of the professional maps that the team did (actually , Landing's shader is public, check it)
- Give it a try, I know that I'm not a mapper, but I can still give you advices, don't ignore them and good luck ! ( YES YES YES , YOU CAN DO IT , YOU ARE INCREDIBLE WOOOSH !!! )
