I'm also Dutch and I have to admit that also I have never celebrated Thanksgiving and so far I know, nobody of Dutch origins does, at least I have never heard of it. Not saying it is a bad holiday, but it's just not celebrated over here these days, if it ever were.

There's a reason why he said that a certain church in the Netherlands celebrates the holiday. I don't see anywhere that he said all of the country did. In fact he probably knew that not all of Netherlands celebrates Thanksgiving, but a small bit of them do.
I'm also not surprised that any of you Dutch folk haven't heard about the other Dutch people who celebrate it in that church because compared to all of the Netherlands it's probably a very tiny percent of the population.

Derogative remark #1 : That's only a weird American custom, insignificant in a global scale.
Calling a cultural holiday weird and insignificant.
Derogative remark #2 : Just to clarify that there are other nationalities and cultures out there on the internet.
Insulting the integrity and knowledge of users in this thread/forum by presuming their ignorance of the rest of the world.
Derogative remark #3 : Clearly the creator had little idea we weren't all americans here.
Stating that the holiday should have little merit or respect by non-Americans. No such assumption was implied or inferred in ANY way nor was it even a remotely topical response based on the well-intended nature of the original post.
Derogative remark #4 : We don't resent it, thanksgiving just doesn't have any meaning to us and you seem not to sure of it's meaning either.
Insisting that the holiday has a lack of meaning to a broad group of people while simultaneously suggesting that those that DO celebrate do not understand it's intention or purpose.
-----
Explain to me again how four negative remarks were supposed to be taken in a positive and reinforcing manner to the traditions and celebratory introduction of this thread.

Trl was just giving his honest opinion and thoughts about this subject. You are taking this way to seriously Brad, although you may be right. There is no need for a warning, since trl hasn't done anything wrong but explaining his opinion about the holiday.
Seems like you are way to offended by this without any reason. For all I know and I'm dutch as well, Thanksgiving is never celebrated around our nation. I thought as well that it was more an "americans only" holiday.
We could be wrong, and you showed that, but no need to get so worked up about it.

You seem to be misunderstanding. I'm not personally offended by any recent remarks made. I've been observing TRL over the last 8-10 months -- enough to determine that he embraces certain negative stereotypes that some individuals in European countries tend to adopt about residents in the US based on nothing more than political associations or media speculation.
We are all equals here -- bound by the same rules of conduct, governed by the same mutual respect, and indifferent in absolutely any regard.
It's important that project contributors understand this just as much as anyone else.

I think it's safe to say that Trl is someone who respects everyone, no matter what nation they come from, as long as they show the same to him and don't behave like leaping lizards. I never seen him look down to any other individuals from different country's just because their origins are different.
And of course everyone is equal, I think everyone in this community feels the same about that one.

How sincere was that on a scale of 1-10? 1 Being not sincere at all and 10 being honestly sincere?
Hmm.. That deserves a whopping 1 in my opinion, why even bother to post that TRL? It's a waste of your time and everyone else who had to read that.
Just because you honestly don't care about a holiday that you don't celebrate doesn't mean you have to pretend to. Just be a little more humble with your words next time.

Humble: Marked by meekness or modesty in behavior, attitude, or spirit; not arrogant or prideful.
If you honestly didn't know what the word meant I'll let it go but seriously. You're a very arrogant person and you let your pride cloud your judgment often.

In short, you think you're so awesome that everyone else means nothing to you and what ever they have to say is meaningless and you have no regard for others feelings.
It's the way you talk to others that makes them feel insignificant. You pretty much belittle anyone you talk to. You should try being nicer for a change. An attitude adjustment is in dire need!
And that's all I'm going to say about that.

Pretty sure TRL just made a sarcastic statement. Nothing to get so excited about TheXenon. You do realize the remarks you made on TRL are valid on yourself as well, something you referred to as 'hatred towards uninformed participators' if I remember correctly.
Just drop the fight and get along peacefully guys.

I'm not getting excited about anything and if you remember I got released for the way I've acted in the past. Also note the key word there past. I can't be like that like anymore because 1. it's inappropriate behavior and 2. there's no need for it. It's nice of you to defend your friend but that doesn't change the fact that he's in the wrong.
I know, it vacuums that we can't all be elitist jerks but everyone has to follow the rules.

If anything it's you who's insulting me. So maybe you should wonder if it's you who does the unnecessary talking.
As far as I know I haven't belittled any person here. The remarks about the guy not knowing what the holiday is about were straight facts because he said so himself. And for the rest of it, they were all facts too because the holiday really is insignificant to the rest of the world.

Good to see you've changed
As for re-inforcing the rules, let the mods and admins handle it.

I'm supposed to respond to posts as if I had mod powers at the moment. Brad told me to and I think Domitjen is aware of this too.

TRL, I assure you that I'm not insulting you, I'm merely trying to get rid of all the negativity and dislike in the community. It's high time that some cleaning up around here started.
Just don't be mean to others and if you're going to sit there and tell me you've never done such things then you and I and everyone else on the Forums will know that's obviously selective memory.

Okay you can be part of the elitist gang if you want. You already act the part.
I must have missed the moment this thread turned into a correctional behavior institute.
