Sad?

I can't stand English dubs. I can semi stand German dubs, but subs just own. Mostly cause the puns actually make sense in Japanese and the replacement English ones are more of a what the heck joke than anything better.

Quite honestly I pity you for watching the dubs

RealDeal, don't be a Japanophobe.
Grega, don't be a Japanophile.

Blunt phrasing aside, there ARE middle grounds to take on these kinds of issues. Contrary to popular belief it is actually possible to have a non-bias perspective in a subject matter with someone in a conversation (online at that!) and still maintain your perspective.

Give it a shot as proper gentlemen, you two.

No need to play the mediator Zeth :p

The only reason why I dislike dubs is cause they sound corny ^^

The whole "pity you for watching dubs" thing was more of a sarcastic retort to him saying it was sad that I had to watch it subbed.

And just to put more fuel on his sad fire. I watched ALL eps as subbed.

I agree, dubbing from Japanese to any language vacuums, I can't stand watching anything with such a dub. I prefer original sound (JAP) and subtitles Smile

hmmm but I dislike sub titles just my opinion

when I see subtitles I feel I have to pay attention to the anime like a teacher reading/writing stuff if you know what I mean

Seems like you have the subtitle syndrome *intense laughter*

If you see subs on screen you can not focus on anything other than the subs. I myself and many others keep the focus centered in the middle of the screen thus we can read subs AND see what's going on.

I still don't see what's so sad about something that I prefer differently to you.

(In the words of a horrible dub idea) "BELIEVE IT!"

edit-,I guess that's da only way to reply to your collection of unsupported data posts *laughing out loud* *laughing out loud*

I got a Q for you what if the English dub was 99% accurate?

Id watch it if it was accurate with the correct joke translations. The thing is if they want to be accurate, they would have to reanimate the mouth movement to fit the correct text.

Then again I originally watched Dragon Ball Z in German. And while it sounded a bit corny, they were more accurate than the English dubs. So I kind of still prefer German dubs to the English ones as far as Dragon Ball Z goes.

And yeah sorry I didn't fully read your post. Missed the "teacher" part *intense laughter*

For me as someone who can speak English pretty good English subs help me keep up with my English reading. In life you learn until you die. There is no way out of it. And while I avoid books like the plague, I see a different kind of plesure from stuff I watch. Since I did learn how to speak English and German by doing nothing more than watching TV.
