Yes. Another side of Zangetsu. Its clear that if ichigos will is in command you have the old man zangetsu. But when his will falters, the hollow ichigo appears. He is Zangetsu, and he is not Zangetsu.
Think split personality. They are both the sword, yet their personalities are different and what personality is active depends on Ichigo.
When Ichigo is in controll he has Shinigami form and because of the Vizard training he can borrow powers from the swords hollow form. Creating the mask, just like he did with getsuga tenshou which is a miniature cero by nature.
But if the hollow form of the sword takes over, then you get a full bodey transformation into a hollow that taps into Ichigos Shinigami powers.
Thus technically being an arancar.
The fact that Aizen called the Vizards "Failed arancar" should imply that they were ment to be different. And Kurosaki just may be what Aizen originally wanted to create.
