*laughing out loud*!
No, I was actually serious about the wireframe. I can't do a lineup pixel by pixel comparison to multiple references when they are present.

Definitely seems different, but all I've been asking for is a non-wireframe render in the same setup you did before. It looks like you are using a single reference to base these variations rather than a consistent median based over a dozen averages.
I suppose I can just do a comparison later though when I get my hands on the model. Regardless of accuracy differences on the head, it's definitely of a very high quality and extremely well made
And yes, it can look the same ingame although this darkened stepped cel-band would contrast heavily with the other characters unless they were adjusted as well.

cheers Zeth, yeah sorry not posting the front and side views.
I got so focussed on the head, remapping and redoing the skin I worked up quite a headache... I woke up and it seemed worse... Just logged in at the office hoping the Advil will kill it.
Anyway the texture is a flat colored one. So there are no gradient colors in it.
I achieved this by mixin up a nice shader in Max.
Also no photoshopping was done after render.

Quite a bit superior to the PlayStation 2 commercial game equivalents out there.

Hardly. Earth Special Forces uses rim highlights (ingame) on top of a standard 3-point diffuse lighting setup (at least in their renders). The textures and inking (outlines) in Earth Special Forces are very soft, subtle, and lean towards a more realistic handling while this has much harder anime-esque presence overall.

I see you changed quite a bit. That's the ZEQ2 quality hunting.
But due to the changes to the head, I think it looks too big again. I think the shape has vastly improved. So it just needs a bit of rescaling, don't worry.

The face is still looking bad though...Earth Special Forces has good shaders, effects and graphics but the characters have always a smashed face, don't try to do it as well

.... it's the pose and angle... if you cross your arms you bend your shoulders forward. and since he is rigged without tweaking he looses mass cause of deformation.
I'll just scale the head down and presto a bigger body...

Amazing job D2 o.o. Really, there is only a limited amount of errors I can spot. Cells face is really, perfect. You've got his horns/head mixed up, when you had it right the first time, it looks like his horns decreased, and his face increased. But it does look cool, just mentioning that as one of the biggest problems and I know people are bugging you about the face a lot.
You've got too much of a gap in between his horns, and they are too wide at the sides. Good job though, really, it's amazing just trying to help.[/img]
