Just a couple of things I picked up.
Joking aside. There is no way in heck you can produce a tsunami of that size with a bomb (ignoring the 8.9 quake and aftershocks) in the first place. Think of something else, like the moons Gravitational pull suddenly getting a spike causing it.
Reegarding the airplanes. Comparing the number of deaths per year of airplane accidents and car crashes you should find that it's about a 1:10 ratio. For ever 1 death caused by a plane crash, 10 people die in or by a car.
Trains and ships are a similar story.

You can produce it yes, but you can not make it travel across half the planet with a bomb.
Mind you that thing reached the US. Albeit it was a nice surf wave when it hit the US, but it got there.
A bomb that can do that would have to level a city the size of new york.

TRL wrote : Luckily the reactor is fine though. So it's no big catastrophe like Tsjernobyl was. But slam that's some bad luck for Japan. My respects for the people who lost their lives. Luckily though Japan has the means to recover quickly from this disaster.

And what can you possibly do to help over there. Do you have any knowledge, skills or training that could help that situation?
Going into a disaster area unprepared usually has the following result: +1 person that needs help

Donations are a different thing. Funds are always needed in crisis areas.
Though my post was aimed at the "Want to go over there to help out" part of the post.Being in the fire department I just thought id slap him with a reality check.

While I did recieve training for earthquake situations I alone wouldn't do much difference. that's why 2 things are the first to be organized in disaster areas:
1.) Only groups permitted for easier communication and in the end more efficient work, than just making a patchwork group from the people who came alone.
2.) Each group has to arrive at the center for the operation so that they can have an overview of how many people they have, what they are doing and where they are.
Both of those boost efficiency at resolving the crisis.
