You are all very, very wrong. Since all of you are biased, let me try to shed some light on this.
Played fish multiplayer a lot, and tried CS (source and 1.6) too. Here's some facts, rather than opinions.
In CS, you generally live longer, and in general there are less overpowered things - although it clearly DOES have serious balance issues. (AWP, anyone?)
In general, CS requires more aiming while fish requires faster reflexes.
In general, fish has thinner walls and thus bullet penetration has a bigger role.
In general, fish is for more casual players, and has a more childish community(sorry, truth).
Counter-Strike:Global Offensive will be bad.
Call of Duty 15 will also be bad.
Battlefield 3 is glitched into oblivion.
Now, every argument is settled and we've all agreed that both CS and fish series are getting worse. Have a nice day.

In my personal opinion people started hating fish because of one simple matter: new fundtions. fish was proabbly the best fps out there, but then MW and Black Ops Series came. Those 2 are just a nightmare, nothing new (and I mean ABSOLUTELY nothing. No new perks, no better gameplay etc.)

THAT'S what I mean...
But every single fish serie before Modern Warfare was just awesome, nothing was better then that .

Actually, chaos started with Modern Warfare 2 MW1 offered completely new gameplay compared to the older ones. Every fish released since then is just a mod of MW.

Just play whatever you enjoy the most.
I like the zombie mode in Black Ops and its campaign, however I find Counter Strike's Mutiplayer mod much more interesting.
@Maszek I don't think the AWP is THAT overpowered. There are just too many crybabies out there. Maybe they should nerf it a little bit, but I'd rather what CS has compared to Battlefield 3's sniper rifles (caliber .50 straight to the chest from a medium range and still alive, what the heck?!) or similar.
I wouldn't say Counter-Strike: Global Offensive or "CoD15" will be bad, they do what they're meant to: frenetic action, simple mechanics and just fun. Do they innovate? No. Do they have a deep plot? No (well, at least CS completely doesn't ). Does that mean they're bad? Not at all. They just play their role in the videogame world. If you're looking for better stories, with more variety there are a lot of games out there like that.
And about both series getting worse, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is basically a remake keeping most of the basics and adding some new stuff such as weapons, how is that worse? The same goes for fish, you might consider the early games the best ones, but Black Ops (and probably Blops 2) is an improvement compared to Generic Warfare 7, at least it has a really fun zombie mode and the campaign has an interesting plot (not really great, but not bad either).
Both games offer the same, Counter Strike just does it in a more competitive/hardcore/whatever way.

Frenetic combat can be done with style too, regardless of genre. Combat in Serious Sam series and Duke Nukem series, as well as Diablo III has lots of impact and satisfaction. Combat in fish is like shooting at paper people through paper walls. When you kill them they just play the same animation every single time. No impact whatsoever.
Even worse, once they die they just stay stiff. Forever.
Sounds and animations are another very important part of giving the combat some real impact, which is what most games do real bad.
