why when every thinks of dragonball z they think of fighting and Goku going Super Saiyan why not think of like when Goku and Gohan get out of the time chamber and spend a day all together.

That's the spirit! You pretty much hit the nail on the head. People are different. Some only notice the fighting aspects of Dragon Ball series, other find other things pleasant. I myself like the thrill of fights, however I loved the humor in the Dragon Ball (not Dragon Ball Z) or other family/friend moments in either of parts.

I enjoy the silliness of dragonball a lot.
And the constant sense of danger and threat starting from the Saiyan saga to the end of freeza saga. And all these efforts, just so they can revive their friends with the Namek dragonballs.

Yeah. Dragonball was funny. I haven't watched it but I've played the SNES game. The game was so funny, The anime must be more funny. Love the part when OOlong asks the Eternal dragon for you know what.
