This thread is part of a series of threads that will focus on giving very old (2003-2004) vintage ZEQ2 content to the public for editing, enhancement, animating, exporting to ZEQ2-lite, and any degree of use inbetween in their own creations (provided derivative works are accredited).

The character models provided will very likely not be rigged (some not textured) or animated so they are far from snappable into ZEQ2-lite but with some elbow grease can easily make a debut.

Best of luck and happy modding!

There are still a LOT of models to go so yes, the vintage series will likely continue as time permits (maybe a few more today).

The Vintage ZEQ2 series will only include models from 1st-3rd generations (and maybe a few 4th generation that have 5th generation replacements). Majority of the 4th generation models probably won't be released just yet.

For reference :

1st generation - Project start. mid 2002- early 2003 models. Non-consistent texturing, diffuse shading with soft bands.
2nd generation - mid 2003 - late 2003 models. Established colors and harder contrast lines stylizing a subtle anime feel. Still using diffuse type shading.
2nd/3rd generation [Alternate] - early 2004 - early 2005 models. This is an alternative style done primarily by SCX as a complimentary to our anime style. It featured very realistically styled/themed textures with darker, bitter colors. The dual style method was dropped by 4th generation models.
3rd generation - early 2004 - early 2005 models. Anime colors. Introduction to solid colors over most of the model rather than gradient transitions. Stepped-shading (cel-bands) starting to be used. Soft & faded (unpronounced) inking on textures.
4th generation - early 2005 - mid 2005 models. Very hard inking (line colors) on textures. Strong usage of a cel-band. Modeled and animated mouths. Stronger anime resemblance (but not reference based).
5th generation - late 2005 - mid 2006 models. Mixed inking levels from hard to soft (a blend of styles 3 and 4) to properly reflect stylization of in-series distances on characters. Relied on colorized cel-band to match the region rather than a neutral gray one. Followed a strong accuracy goal using references. All official models in ZEQ2-lite are 5th generation.
6th generation - mid 2007 - late 2007 models. Completely untextured models relying on mesh geometry for shading and inking. Accurate to the series beyond anything in existence to this day (including commercial games). For Zios ZEQ2 usage.
