I've never planned or wanted to be an artist back in the day. Due to strong passion for DragonBall Z series, that comes from early 2003, I've got myself interested in game design and later on in 2005 I've finally got myself into art completely.

I'm very grateful to Akira Toriyama for his unique artistry that helped and inspired me so much.

Just because of him, I've decided to put all my heart into art someday and one day settle down as artist and live life by that.

To mark this, I've decided to draw something, that might inspire someone else and to show gratitude that I feel towards Akira.

Thanks again.

Here is the work I'm working on. Any crits, suggestions would be appreciated.

Peace&respect.
Ram.

I like the little intro in the first post. Smile

The pose is kind of bland. I think you should focus on getting a good drawing/sketch down first in some sort dynamic pose before tinkering with the shadowing too much.

Well, TRL, I'm terrible in perspective drawing, if you really wanted to hear that Wink.

I'm drawing a neutral, simple standing pose from front. Lightning source can come from anywhere, if I'm correct Wink

Somewhat like this.

okay that's cool, whatever you want to do.

But don't say you're terrible without trying it.

The only thing I dislike is that he looks hunched over. Other than that, it's great! Razz Very Happy Smile Wink

Hmm something about the face seems off, perhaps the expression.

I'd change the expression, Dragon Ball Z characters are usually frown, especially if they're ssjs, but in your drawing Goku looks calmed, his attitude is not like that Confused

remember Goku mastered Super Saiyan 2 and 1 and he behaved normall in the Super Saiyan in cell saga and in Super Saiyan 2 on the Buu saga , onl on the android and Namek saga he changed his attitude when in Super Saiyan :p so what if Ramunas drew a Buu saga one Razz , but you got a point

If it was Buu saga style why would be Goku transformed? Maybe because he looks cooler? Very Happy

Thanks everyone for their kind comments and crits. I'm doing my best to make it angry, but first I wanted to see him crying and sad.

And I drew him in Super Saiyan, because I like simply like him in that form. Wink

Here is version of Goku crying Wink

Thanks for a good notice, fellow malek! I will be sure to fix his brows. For some reasons, I thought his eyebrows are the same as his eyes. Thanks again Wink

Hey Ram, it's been so long since I did anything in Photoshop so I decided to go and mess around a bit on your work.

Aside from some proportions, a striking thing you see I changed was the color balance. You need a lot more contrast in your shadows. On top of that what creates a nice touch is using a different hue for your shadows. In this case the shadow for his red gi became a dark purple instead of a dark red. Same thing for the skin a dark red instead of a dark orange. It instantly vivids up the piece.

Maybe I got a little too carried away, but it's a simple case of example by exaggeration. Cheers.
