I thought I would join Earth Special Forces forums and be a part of 2 great games but I had to turn around

I first went to the forum page and I found a guest message which told me you need a steam account to join which really tinkled me off

than I saw how strict the rules were and how professional the forums were
it was like a jail with cctv cams in you're buttocks

and due to constant feeling of being watched on in da forums I abandoned da idea

ZEQ2 FORUMS ARE MUCH BETTER at least THERE IS NO PRESSURE HERE

I agree that the steam thing is just loving stuff , but I also have to say that the strict rules there prevent people like a really cool guy to do stuff ,against which this forum is pretty much help less , but I have to say , Earth Special Forces lost much support because of too harsh decigions

that steam validation is a good success for the team members because some with ripped Half-Life are asking everyone in the help forum like heck on why do they have errors , so they made it to help only those who got the Half-Life on his steam acc registered

Well if you bothered to read the message you'd find out it's not required to join the forums. Your validated status only comes in to play when you are asking for support.

I disagree with you there. Earth Special Forces is an old mod and that was the cause of the loss of its members. During the days of Earth Special Forces beta 1.1 there were aproximately 20k registered members with over 400 people on line each day. Though the moving of the forum from the previous host to the new one the stats got mostly reset. That time was when you would get released for as much as a spam post, with 3 warnings resulting in a temporary high five.

The decline of the forum population happened later. The rules were softened up quite a bit after the release of 1.2, and a a few months after 1.2.3 was released people slowly started disappearing. Earth Special Forces always was a hard to master game and that left its player group as a select society who didn't quit till they were good. With newer people being turned off by the fact that they would get killed really easily and the older group getting well old. It lead to a decrease in community activity. Newer people didn't want to really join cause they mostly thought that picking Goku would allow them to own the server, yet were possessed badly themselves. The older players were complaining abbout how slow 1.2 is compared to 1.1 and started leaving. Others started leaving simply because they outgrew dragonball.

The forum rules don't have anything to do with it. Yes there are some rules, but they are more guidelines than actual rules and mod intervention doesn't happen unless things really get out of hand.

If you think this is bad though, you should have seen the place in 2003 or 2004. There were at least 2 to 3 warnings per day ^^

EDIT: And what is it with that filter O.O
high five = b a n
released = b a n n e d

Earth Special Forces forums are pretty awesome and I like their rules

What are you babling about "like in prison" - are you insane?

If you get released that means you deserved it

ZEQ2-lite forums are not normal, and if I was asked half of community would get high five for life

I mean by like a prison is that you are constantly being watched and have to do your regular activities like making topics and replying with caution

and I don't know why but ZEQ2 forums seems like a more friendly place
where you get advised on what wrong your doing
like how a parent advices his child

on Earth Special Forces forums it doesn't feel that way
+ the forums don't feel like they are for kids and teens
its more like a professional office

You may get that feeling because of what I said in my first reply. The community is older. The average age of a forum member there is round 17 or 18. We even have people there who are in their late 20s or like me in their early 20s.

that's what happens once a project gets really old. I was 16 when I joined the Earth Special Forces forum. A lot of people are like that. But because of the harshness of the game new people are few in number only massing upon release of a new version.

What I ment with that was that. The community itself is of an older generation nowadays. And thus discussions and general acting within the community changed to suit that.

greg why don't you change all this?
why are you bothered so much about people asking illegal links to Earth Special Forces and help

just make the Earth Special Forces game run only on original Half-Life
just like Dragon Ball source it no longer runs on pirated Half-Life

Why do the members who want to join the forums have to suffer just because of plundering booty
if there are too many spammers and bots on the frtums its da mods duty to delete and take care of it

Why are you spoiling the love towards Earth Special Forces?

*ponders* that's the deal^^

no support for illegal users ,support only for those who own hl1

in my opinion: they just did good with this verifycation so illegal users can't spam their help forum with lacking in identifiable function thread

well instead of that make the Earth Special Forces game support only original hl1 so that plundering booty of Earth Special Forces users or game ends completely

than this validation stuff will not be required as everyone will have original hl1 which leads to original Earth Special Forces which leads to increase in members and happy members

I'd say the average is between 20-24.

Also, Earth Special Forces is very lenient compared to most forums, mainly because of the activity and the people who are on the forums. You just think Earth Special Forces is overwhelming because this place barely has any rules and you have to try really, really hard to get released.

We can't. That can't be used because of STEAM hacks, that still cause bugs, yet mimic STEAM itself. The only fool proof way is o check accounts. And if we coded that into the game, then you wouldn't be able to make a LAN game since you don't get a STEAM ID from that.

But again. Linking your STEAM account is not necessary to join the forums. Its only necessary if you want to get support.

but Dragon Ball source has made their game pirate proof by making it only run on original Half-Life

do the same with Earth Special Forces and spare the forums

edit-I don't think Dragon Ball source runs on steam

They didn't make their game pirate proof.

The fact that they didn't add bots and that its a Half-Life 2 mod did that.

Half-Life 2 only runs though STEAM or steam hacks. BUT with no bots you need to be connected to the STEAM servers or else you can't play.

We already changed the engine to the point that the WON version can't handle the increased amount of data, so its STEAM only. But that also includes STEAM hacks. And with bots in the game that doesn't stop plundering booty at all.

Besides again. You don't need to do the validation thing to join the forums. Loads of people there aren't validated. Heck loads of people there don't even play Earth Special Forces. Quite a few people are the kind that played in the early versions, and then just stuck round while not playing the newer ones.
