I tried the game, not bad but..
-We can loot items and its pretty cool, but since the storyline change our character every time, we can't stay with those cool new weapons..so forget to buy weapons and upgrades..
-We can use 2 weapons at the same time, but we only can hold one weapon, because if we do something extreme like riding, jump etc, than we lost our secondary weapon..
-The Prince of Persia style minigames still not gone, and its discomforting in this game..I really dislike those parts.
-If the game gives a mini mission, like catch somebody..than we can't hit him, only slap..*laughing out loud*!
-can't aim with weapons(left right up down), so the white aim-line is pretty uuseless..
-We can loot the big nothing..
-We can loot dead bodys, pretty uuseless thing..
-Sometimes 3 woman block our way, even if we on a mission..(if you don't want it than just grab one of those silly b..., and throw her away)!

Still searching for the truth fragments in this one.
In any case what POP minigames were you talking about Konan
Regarding the punching missions. Think of it like this. You want to make him talk, not kill him.

that's actually a core part of the game. Unlike PoP which had that as a mini game, here it's the main movement system. AC without free run puzzles is not AC.

Because an assassin jump from stone column to stone column? The main part is, you jump from house to house and NOT jump from stone column to stone column.
it's not the same.

Roman architecture much like Greek was based round columns. To this day they are admired as great architectural works. The pillars that laid the foundation to their creations.
That aside I don't particularly remember the need to jump from one to another in something other than a few Romulus missions, the final part of the game with Desmond and as a way for reaching the feathers. Aside from those cases there were no columns you needed for you to jump across.
That aside they were not out of place anywhere. Quite opposite. They blend right in with the rest of the world. So weather its a stone pillar or a house rooftop doesn't matter. Its merely a way to get from point A to point B.
