I have downloaded the maps
But when I open those maps in the game, the colors are absent
like just black background with white outlines 
Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong ?

I think you have changed the graphics settings. I too faced such problem when I did so.

It seems that the pictures corresponding to the map are not loaded into the memory. Where did you put the pk3 files? They should be in the ZEQ2Contents folder.

There is your problem. You shouldn't put them in the maps folder, but in ZEQ2Contents itself.
