I suggest not to buy half life until Earth Special Forces releses the beta, because Earth Special Forces 1,2,3 is really a piece of trash.

I got Half-Life gifted by a friend of mine, and I was playing The Specialists and Sven Co-bloppity blip bloop online. And I even played Earth's Special Forces and Naruto: Naiteki Kensei with a friend of mine.

What buying the game has to do with any of it's mods anyway?

Yes I know...I'm lazy to write lite...you know what I mean...

Earth Special Forces looks cool but it had lot of years behind and zeq2lite has started before 6 months, using some elements from ZEQ2, but again made almost from scratch

1.3 I superior to todays ZEQ2 lite but Earth Special Forces 123 version suc.. compare to ZEQ2 lite

To ESFR: yes, I'm not saying its bad game, it was the best Dragon Ball Z game ever made until I played zeq2lite (for me)

Hated small maps

Regards

no Earth Special Forces 1.2.3 with ecx rc2 and budukai 3.0 pack was better than ZEQ2 lite

this is the first beta of zeq2lite

Earth Special Forces openbeta latest patch before final beta is a lot more fun than zeq2lite it has more animations more characters and more compatibilities , and even Earth Special Forces 1.2.3 with ecx rc2 and big pacl is a lot more fun

Even then, ZEQ2-Lite Reloaded won't be near as good as the fan-made ECX addon at all.

Valve themselves said that the games nor the engine based on the games are based of (GoldSrc) are supported anymore. Their only focus now is the Source Engine, mostly the Team Fortress 2 / Left 4 Dead 2 engine.

Lets see. If we start giving support for plundering booty well be kicked off the host and that would be the least of our problems.

So why bother and simply go with a hard against and save us the trouble.

Also what is it with all this comparison. ZEQ2 is ZEQ2 and Earth Special Forces is Earth Special Forces. There is no competition simply play what you want, be it one, the other or both.

So can people please stop arguing which one is better. They are made by different teams, have a different approach and a different style of gameplay. Other than the fact that they both take Dragon Ball Z as a theme, they can not be compared at any point, because they have no common points to compare them by.

As for why we are posting news about new features that are common in games since over 5 years ago. Its simple. Half Life can not do that. We had to make our own system coded from scratch. So we are making a news post saying "We did this on Half Life" no other reason.

You guys really didn't read what Grega wrote right?

And if you really can't resist to give a comparisation, then at least give some reasons to it, The pro's and the con's of both games for example. Just saying ZEQ2 LITE is better or Earth Special Forces is better without any motivation is ill-advised.

I think the issue void (and some other programmers I've spoke to) have is that the Earth Special Forces posts are VERY misleading in that it gives the impression/illusion that they created these fantastic new capabilities despite them actually being SUPER dated/common technical design approaches available in engines (some, yes, for a decade -- not 5 years). Whether they existed in Half Life natively is quite irrelevant to the presentation and exposure style that's being given publicly.

Additionally, it's misguided to call it the "Half-Life" engine at this point. From what I remember at Naruto: Naiteki Kensei, the process involves using hijacked dlls/function calls to bypass the ORIGINAL Half-life rendering pipeline and replace it with more modern and direct OpenGL functionality. Granted, yes, the network code and many other aspects of goldsrc are still preserved, but the actual rendering core itself is mostly custom written.

Although most engines will pull from various sources for third-party libraries concerning physics, audio, input, etc., the rendering layer itself is typically a pivotal defining factor of what the engine's identity is about. Since this has been replaced by a new layer, you'd be better off calling it as another engine (or sub-engine).

Regardless of Half-Life's lack of engine source exposure, I think it's fair to say that Earth Special Forces's rendering redefinitions qualify it as a derivative engine and not the parent engine itself.

Take into consideration an actual similar idea. xReal. While heavily modified from Quake 3, xReal absolutely CANNOT be called the Quake 3 engine anymore. The mesh formats, mapping features, rendering features, and even the actual virtual machine code plan was completely non-standard from Quake 3's normal pipeline and capability -- much like is the case with Earth Special Forces.

If you alter something to a certain degree, regardless of qualifiers, there always comes a point where calling it by the "original" name becomes moot and a misrepresentation overall.
