Tried once with my xbox controller and the only thing I could do is turn around, maybe the control settings weren't okay, I don't know.

Nah,its to hard to aim with joystics,keyboard and mouse are better

Maybe his pad has 2 joystics one to move and one aim I've played many fps games for xbox 360 and they're playable because of the excessive auto aim, and it's still no match for a mouse accuracy.

Yes but first you need to aim(which will be hard with joystick) in order to lock on.

I tried to play zeq2lite once with my PlayStation 3 controller. Yes it's doable, but I would really recommend using the pc controls as they are much more suited for this game.
