Yet another website has fallen to the due to the mass investigation done by the FBI on plundering booty, or due to fear thereof.
Recently many websites, including big names such as filesonic has stopped the majority of their sharing services due to fear of being investigated. This all started after the massive take down and seizure of MegaUpload.
Torrific has issued refunds to all of its premium subscribers whom paid via PayPal.
Please note that torrific has ceased operations. Your recurring paypal
subscription has been cancelled. You will not be charged again in the
future. We are processing pro-rated refunds at this point in time.
Please notify us should you not receive a pro-rated refund in the next
seven days in your paypal account
Unfortunately Torrific was the best of its kind, with no other Torrent-To-HTTP service even coming close to it. If you are looking for alternatives then your best bet is either to get a personal seed box or use one of these services below:
Furk.Net
Torrenthandler
Imageshack Torrents
BitLet.Org
QuickTorrent
These are some that were similar to Torrific, but in no way superrior. Most of these are paid services as well.
Though I fear that they might soon follow the path of Torrific as well. If anyone knows of other sites similar to torrific please post in the comment section below.
It seems that all filesharing services may be in danger. If the US can do this to legitimate websites without SOPA then the internet would have been doomed if SOPA had succeeded.
Rest in Peace Torrific.

This is quite strange, in the past days nothing like that has ever happened, only in 2012 this began... I don't get it if this continues the internet is going to die.

Do you really think people won't take to the streets if this continues?

I believe someone in the forums has said this before but this is eventually going to turn into a internet war. Which will make the internet more unsafe for everyone.

If things continue like this, then there won't be an internet war. There will be a world wide civil war.

Guys its illegal to get ghings you have to pay for free.
I do it caususly(misspelled) because I know I could go to jail.
Its a law you can't go against a law, well you can but you most likely won't win.
Would you like your product to be sold for free? If yes that is lacking. Unless you count ZEQ2/lite Earth Special Forces and others.
Suppose you possessed autodesk or another multi bil or mil company would you like everyone to have it for free and lose all your money? heck no

it's not about plundering booty.
Lots of people used those sites to upload LEGAL files. Stuff for projects and even addons for games (including ZEQ2)
Now the sites were taken down with no warning and those files are gone forever with no chance to recover them.
Sorry but that's fiddle sticks.

Grega is right, Zay. Also, some Autodesk products are free for students. ZEQ2-Lite and Earth Special Forces are not necessarily products--licensed products, I mean--and are intended to fulfill enjoyment for players who would rather find a game that is fun yet free to play.
This is what the government does not understand: games and other sources of entertainment were made to introduce a new activity for players to enjoy, not a way to make a massive profit by tricking players into playing bugged releases to report problems that were supposed to be fixed before release. It doesn't make sense to turn a profit from an incomplete game.
The entertainment industry is making a fuss that we, the gamers, want to play the games for free, only to make sure we truly want it. It's up to the individual gamers to go by their word to buy the game if they think it is worth to buy.
In most cases, free game trials do not show bugs because the developers want to persuade gamers that the rest of the game is not trash. That's partly why many gamers choose to play pirated games and neglect to endorse the licensed product: they don't want to pay for crappy releases.
MegaUpload had more legitimate uploads than they did pirated products. Yet, because MegaUpload neglected to monitor the pirated content effectively, every individual associated with the site is punished.
I partially believe that the people who ran the Mega sites should be given some sort of punishment, but it's very unfair that they are arrested because they couldn't possibly monitor the 500+ uploads every minute.
The only reason THEY were arrested instead of the real violators was because shutting down the site is an easier procedure than browsing and deleting every suspected licensed product, in addition to finding every single violator by IP address.
In a way, the US was being effective in stopping one source of plundering booty, but they want the entire possibility of plundering booty stopped. This is why they want to pass SOPA. Honestly, I don't know if there are any alternatives to prevent plundering booty, but I do not want the internet to be gone.

Here is one. Better service. Demos based on time limitations of full games instead of 1 level or so.
Easier access all over the world. Removing programs that force people to be logged on to the internet for single player games, while keeping an online account for acquiring the games.
Basically STEAM with changes to the DRM to suit the users and not the corporations (the DRM for the PC version of LA Noire pretty much kills FPS for users, be it a legit copy or not). Removing stuff like "We have the right to search your private files while you are playing our game" from the EULAs.
plundering booty exists mostly due to horrible service from the distributors. Fix that and you knock out over 50% of the plundering booty issues. That means fixing copyright limitations for regions and so on. No kid gloves for certain countries (looks at Australia and their unfinished age rating preventing a lot of games to be even sold there).
The internet should be considered its own region the same all over the world.
Also enabling easier marketing for indie developers so they no longer need to depend on big shot corporations if they want to sell their product.
Also Linkxp500 I have to disagree. You treat games like its a given. A necessity, something self-explanatory. Games are a commodity, same as sports cars or any other product that you do not need for survival. Yes they should be treated better in the line of bug fixing. But saying you want games to be free is like saying you want to get a free ferrari just cause its fun to drive in one.

I didn't imply that I want games to be free. What I had said was that people would rather play a bugged game for free instead of purchasing it. Once the bugs are ironed out, people SHOULD consider purchasing the game.
Developers did make it, but how do they expect to get a good reception if they treat players like guinea pigs? I don't advocate free games unless those games are filled with truly game-breaking bugs, like Skyrim. When they fixed enough bugs to make it function at least semi-properly, I do consider purchasing those games.
Why should we pay to do their job for them? See where I'm going?

And what bugs may that be. Last I checked Skyrim is pretty much the best game released in 2011. The seer size of the interactive world is unlike any other game with the exception of maybe some MMOs. And there are no real game breaking bugs. There are funny glitches, but nothing game breaking.
If any game is worth its price its Skyrim.

Both of you are right.A persons makes a game to sell it and to make profit as he has done a lot to make that game and people also need free games so that a gaming spirit should build in them and they play through the virtual world.

If you look anywhere in google looking for game-breaking bugs for skyrim, not all of them were solved just yet. And I mean for any quest in general, not the main quest.

I have 3 friends playing the game with their in game time well over 50 hours of gameplay already. And not one of them has any complaints about the game.
As for google. I saw no real glitches, but rather cheap tactics like reducing mana cost for destruction by 100% with enchantments and similar stuff.
But those are not really bugs.

Compare http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Bugs_(Skyrim) with http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Skyrim_Patches
The list of known bugs is many times longer than the list of patches applied.
