Well now you can play this game without half life 2 as long as you download the free team fortress two and download source sdk base 2006 and 2007 you can play it. install the game into your source mods folder. (need steam to play) this game was dead but now is brought back there is a 24 hour server always available

You don't even need TF2. You just need the source SDKs.
But yeah you can run ALL Half-Life 2 mods with the stuff you get from the free TF2.
Been kind of known since TF2 went free ^^;

Download STEAM, and get TF2.
The Source SDKs should be downloaded with the engine.

Team Fortress "1" is a Quake mod, so nope (unless Quake is free).
If you mean Team Fortress Classic, it's a Half-Life mod, so... Still not free *intense laughter*
