For Blender you just need to click FILE and then choose import or export Laughing

I think 3dsmax 2012 hasn't md3 exporter and importer.....you need the 2010 version of 3dsmax to run this plugin

anyway try to put the question threads into the discussion forum...is better

If you want import or export stuff with blender click on FILE and you should see import and under import is export but I'll give you a picture that you can see Smile

Not to necropost or anything, but I was curious if anyone ever found an md3 export plugin or script that works with the 2012 or later versions of Max?

No, I can't use the one I have for 2010 because it doesn't support the CAT Rig system, so I'd lose all my animation work reverse engineering this model for the earlier version of Max... And no, I don't think switching to blender will help either...

Neither of those posts answered my question, or really have anything to do with this thread...

On the plus side, I figured out a way to convert everything so I could export from 2012, import into 2010, and then re-export it as an md3... You have to select the character's model(all model components, don't select the bones) and export selected as an .fbx file, making sure to check that it's being exported in the 2009-2010 format, and that it is being exported with animations. When I imported it into 2010, I got a few errors, but it loaded up correctly otherwise, and it converted all the CAT Rig bones to generic helper bones that still retained all the animation data.

Side note, since I figured this out, you guys can expect something special soon. And you're going to love me... Err, it... Wink

Originally with the Quake 3 export pipeline, developers were simply expected to export to ase (or obj?) and then use a little converter tool to build the md3. I'd have to dig up that tool, but it's preferably over using an md3 exporter itself at least as far as ID was concerned.

Here we go. Try using Npherno (a GUI front-end using the console tool I mentioned).
