Adding contrast & depth doesn't instantly make something better and it certainly doesn't make it simulate bump/normal mapping. As with many things, studied design and technique are of more value than than merely producing haphazard results. Understand what you want to achieve, different ways to approach it, and above all why it needs to be achieved in the first place. Are you improving on an existing design? Is it merely for your own behalf? What is its (and your own) purpose?

It is not a matter of preference. It is a matter of principle. It is a matter of intention and project goals. Is this truly how you remember the terrain where the infamous fight between Goku and Vegeta took place? Surely not.

He was not addressing you specifically but rather in general to all people who are trying to put seemingly random things into the game without any conceptual thought behind it. They're not thinking to achieve some design goals. They're just messing around.

okay. Seriously, people. Just because I (or TRL) say something about a piece of work doesn't AUTOMATICALLY mean it's good or bad. It is imperative that you grasp English more strongly if you want to understand that there's a WHOLE RANGE of dynamics in-between the two.

You cannot boil down humanity's perceptions to a matter of like and dislike.
