I think the first part was still nice. It had a nice sense of history. Showed the grandeur that is European history starting from the industrian revolution.
The part with the kid hospitals was weird to me. And the "love story" wasn't all that great either.
Loved Rowan Atkinson though and the finale of Mcartney! Such legends!
The lighting of the fire was pretty impressive too.

That's because China spilled money all over it, just for that moment. All the arenas they made aren't even used anymore nowadays. It's all been a waste.
UK would ruin themselves if they tried to match it. So they decided to take a much more economic and ecologic route. a lot of buildings are going to be "recycled", used for other construction projects, for example.
It's the "greenest", most durable olympics ever so that in itself is a feat. Of course most people only care about flashy lights though.
And you just know USA is going to get the most medals in the end.
