Zeth wrote : Character models, shading, and texture quality are all at a PLENTY acceptable level in this community. There are a slew of people who have already mastered these aspects, after all.
It's the (particle) effects, maps (models, textures), and character animations that are still very low caliber and in need of a LOT more focus. Better quality and additional characters don't really matter at all by comparison to these!
This is kind of why I've been posting so much. That is ZEQ2. Want it back? We need as many working hands as possible. I'm quoting Brad again because you specifically fit into this category
Or we can keep the "my pack is ________, so I'll keep on with it" mentality, and eschew all the excellent features we could have in ZEQ2 to stick with the feature lacking(in comparison) ZEQ2-Lite.
The choice is yours, community

So wait... THIS(ZEQ2-Lite) is the "work in progress" open-source game, while ZEQ2 is the finished one, right? For instance, the commercial release, or something?

Well except that it isn't finished ( or ever going commercial, barring some sort of crazy weird series of events, but the probabilities are about that of me winning an Olympic medal ). It needs able-bodied people with the skills listed to get it back off the ground.
Think of it like this, as it's an illustration I've used before. ZEQ2-Lite really is a tutorial. It's a tutorial with a goal in mind of teaching a set of skills, so that, once proficiently acquired, one could begin to work with ZEQ2 instead.
But what has happened is that, rather than "ascending", we have people squabbling over who is better at the tutorial. Like I said, it's like arguing over who can clear World 1-1 in the original Mario Bros. game where every party involved is unwilling to even try World 1-2, let alone the other worlds.
It's really up to us as a community to move being simple character addons(not that they aren't appreciated and needed in due time) but there is so much more to do! More in-depth combat, AI, alliance systems, more robust skill/attack systems, more life given to maps, and potentially even that old "World Server" concept that I'd love to see happen.
So I guess that's my sales pitch here:
We either keep doing what we're doing, and nothing changes. We get new characters that all have recycled versions of attacks we already have.
OR we could try a new challenge. Learn it. Get familiar with it. Change everything about the experience we currently have and make it one that no Dragon Ball Z fan could ever forget.

I agree with Skatter
And I feel ashamed to not contribute
But saying this The past is gone Either I sit and cry over my mistakes or amend and make sure I rectified them.
So without going further I would like to volunteer for ZEQ2
