Not strange, they're classic games from the old days(everything except Doom 3 being from the golden age of DOS).

I use to love me some old "point and click" adventure games, thus why Freddy Pharkas and Monkey Island are on there. I could have added Full Throttle as well Loom or a few others, but my list was long enough as it was, don't you think?

I do, it's just that most commercial games fall short of what a Dragonball game should be. I think the best Dragonball Z game I ever played was "Dragonball Z: Super Sonic Warriors" on the Gameboy Advance.

The second one for that series on the Nintendo DS killed it though when they took away the ability to just constantly wail on your opponent with mêlée attacks by adding a "knock-back" effect to the third punch/kick... They also made a lot of the characters move ridiculously slow(a problem in most Dragonball Z games), and certain characters were always easier to defeat than they should have been, not to mention certain abilities were taken away from characters that made sense to keep, such as Android 18's infinite energy for small energy attacks which mysteriously disappeared in the second game.

The title of the thread is called "post you're <favorite> games/mods!" is it not? The ones I listed are some of my favorites. Not all of them are on the list mind you, but I didn't feel like boring you all with three pages of (mostly) old games that most of you likely haven't heard of because they were released before you were born...

I agree about supersonice warriors Shenku!
Between that game, Dragon Ball Z legends (psx) and dragonball advance (gameboy advance) that's probably the best simulation of actual dragonball like fighting in any games out there. Dragonball advance and legends are the only ones that actually managed the fighting while in the air jumping up or falling down parts of dragonball. Supersonic warriors kind of had it too, but only when your opponent was unconscious.

Never played Legends or Advance, but I guess I'll have to keep my eyes open for them.

The reason I think I liked Super Sonic Warriors so much, was because it was so much faster paced than any of the other ones I've played, save an Emulated ROM of Dragonball Z Hyper Dimension with the game simulation speed cranked up through the emulator to about 10 times normal play speed...

Everything else just feels sluggish and clumsy when compared to the series... Characters should be able to zip around all over the place at high speed, trade blows, dodge quickly and block without having to get "exact" timing(other wise you're basically hosed), and in general fight hard and fast.

Most Dragonball games I've played, you can only dodge half a foot at most to the character's left or right(a bit of an exaggeration), you walk or shuffle 95% of the time unless you double tap in a direction (and that feels slow in most games)but dashing is typically only a "towards opponent" thing in most games, and zanzoken abilities are a timing trick associated with comboing rather than a tactical movement choice.

Super Sonic Warriors still had some of those issues, but they were greatly diminished by the things that were done correctly in that game, in my opinion.
