You'd need to make sure the .skin file references the right object name and shader/texture as well.

It's nice you want to help.
About the icon, make it more of a closeup on the head. Also the colors need to be a lot more saturated.

As for the modeling, if I could make a map using google sketchup then I can help with that..I'm not like pro but I don't rule in my opinion.
