Hey guys, Im "new" here, although I've been following this mod since it started. I just came today and found out I could register, and saw this site, and I must say:
Im MORE than pleased... not only with the character models, but also with
a- The incredible level of detail and sense of style
b- The amazing forums and overall site design.
c- The site and forums' functionality and speed.
Really nice work, people. You are working at a level of excellence most professional game developers should.
Thanks for this.

Hi all, another new member... this time me.
I must say that these models are awesome and great piece of art. I love them. Those models are just like the ones I have always imagined they should be like. I see that you all work like professionals and really want to do this.
So keep up with the good work. I can't wait to see the mod.

have you guys every thought about trying to get a game on a system other than pc like Playstation 2 or game cube or xbox. things like that because from what I have seen and heard about this game it almost sounds like a system game. I know that it will take more work but if you guys are doing exellant now just think about when the game or next one comes out.

Yes maybe their work could even reach to consoles but ofcourse they can't make a game in name of DBZ and sell it without all kinds of licences and such.
But that would make money for sure, although a lot of work too.

I guess you guys have no idea how much does it take to make game... I'm not even talking about releasing it. And I may be wrong but I think this project wasn't meant to become commercial.

No it couldn't.
You need special licenses to sell DBZ related games/stuff.

Actually we won't be able to sell it even if it'll be called ZEQ2 or anything else =] as long as it has DBZ content.

I don't know if this has already been mentioned before, but on Goku's boots the red and orange colors are backwards...

As the progress thread mentions, the drawing style used was from the Buu Saga, the colors and outfit itself from the Saiyan Saga. The boot colors tend to change throughout the series and are depending on lighting circumstances. Your reference has little grounds considering that we base our work EXCLUSIVELY off the series -- not from posters, manga, or other concepts.

As expected, the effect is really impressive ^^
I'm really wondering though: Does the engine dynamically read which parts of the model it should add cell shading to based on the geometry, Or do you have to use a separate file or methodology to tell it where to add lines? (and color for that matter)

Currently we can either specify a single color-tone for a particular submesh and have the resulting shades be auto-calculated, or we can manually specify each shading step color (more precision). Additionally, the number of shading steps can be specified. In the DragonBallZ series, the number of shading steps typically ranges from 2-4 depending on distance from camera. As you might recall, a white highlight gloss is added on extremely closeup shots to further enhance the lighting effect.

Oh? How is it bland, do tell?
Our textures prior to the textureless technique used only a single color for sub-mesh and offered simple baked-in outlines. This has exactly that with none of the penalties and even more advantages. If you are refering to using a softer gooch style of folds, it's not really the "standard" style that ZEQ2 employs.

Indeed amazing!
I really wondered how the face would look, and I must say I'm impressed you people even managed to MODEL the lines under goku's eyes (or any of the DBZ characters).
Can't wait to see the new Bojack:P I already was amazed by the old eons ago one. but... damn when you make the new one. 10 buckets won't be enough to keep the floor dry of my tears.
